Description
Basics of keelboat sailing certification
This is the entry-level sailing course for beginner or novice sailors. Our standard format includes up to 10 to 16 hours of training. This consists of 3 to 4 hours in a classroom and 6=12 hours on the water. The water training is divided into 2-4 separate sessions depending on class size. Private or semi-private lesson formats may differ slightly. Our one-on-one traiing format includes personalized training for the on-the-water portion. Our group format includes three to four students per boat and 3-4 on-the-water sessions. This approach ensures maximum learning outcomes customized to the individuals participating. Upon completing the course, you will earn the ASA Basic Keelboat Sailing Certification (ASA 101). This certification meets the ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Sailing standard. You will learn essential boat handling and sailing skills. This includes rigging and unrigging the boat, tying basic knots, and understanding the rules of the road. You will explore points of sail, crew coordination, and safety equipment. Local sailing considerations, outboard motors, and docking under power will also be reviewed as needed. Finally, a general review will help reinforce your knowledge.
