ASA 102 offers in-depth training on boat handling, trim concepts, upwind sail trim, reaching, and running sail trim. It’s the perfect course for those looking to build their skills before moving on to Basic Coastal Cruising ASA 103, for existing sailors who know the ropes but have taken some time away from sailing and want a refresher, or for sailors who are interested in advancing their sailing skills in sailboat racing.
Prerequisites
ASA 101; Basic Keel-boat Sailing Certification (or equivalent) The sailing student must demonstrate their skills and knowledge in two ways, with a practical exam (on-the-water skills assessment) with a certified ASA instructor and completing the online course.

On-the-water Practical Sessions
Embark on a journey of discovery and skill with our ASA102 Coastal Cruising Course, designed specifically for aspiring sailors ready to prepare for ASA 103. Our course offers an immersive experience on a 29.5 foot sailboat, providing the needed on the water experience to continue your journey to ASA 103.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, ASA 102 graduates will be smarter, safer, faster, and more confident sailors to skipper and crew aboard a sloop-rigged keelboat of approximately 20 to 30 feet in length by day in winds up to 20 knots.
